Submission Call - Hearts Desire Press

PERMISSION TO FORWARD GRANTED

Overall, we’re fans of great storytelling, solid steamy romances, and powerful toe curling sexual tension regardless of whether the sex is on screen or behind closed doors. We’re open to romantic suspense, contemporary, paranormal, and urban fantasy, but there are a few things that we would love to see cross our desk:

  • Everyone loves an athletic body and HDP is no exception to the rule! We crave romance that heats our blood and has us cheering like fanatics for the hero and heroine to score! Any sport will do! Football, baseball, hockey, and snowboarding are some of our favorite sports, but with summer coming up...we’re dying to see a romance that features a competitive surfer!

  • Cowboys! Of course we’ve got a thing for great contemporary western romances with heart stopping cowboys. Give us a cowboy on the verge of losing everything and a heroine that can bring him to his knees.

  • Paranormal or urban fantasy stories that feature angels, demons, witches, vampires, shifters, or Fae steeped in edge of your seat mayhem and romance that will leave us breathless.

  • Military heroes! Some of us have grown up in military families and some of us are veterans. All of us are suckers for a man in uniform story.

  • Time travel romance captivates us. Knights, Highlanders, or Egyptian Princesses showing up in unexpected places and discovering the love of their life in another time. We believe in everlasting romance.
As Hearts Desire Press does not publish young adult, new adult romance, or children's books, we will not be able to respond to submissions of such material. Please refer to the Hearts Desire Press Submission page for submission guidelines. This is an open call, there is no deadline.

We are a hybrid, royalty-paying publisher with unique offerings for authors. If you trust us with your work, and we contract it, here are some of the benefits you’ll receive as an HDP author.
  • Monthly payments/sales reporting so you can manage your writing business

  • Royalty schedule that over time favors the author, not the publisher

  • Author choice of digital only or digital and print, provided the work is at least 50k words

  • Every title receives marketing/promotional support, commercial quality cover art, editing by industry professionals, formatting with premier industry design software, and will be published in a timely fashion.
Authors these days need to have their stories in more than one venue to be successful. We get that. And we’re okay with it. Let us help you keep your career moving forward, in the direction YOU want it to go.

 Your success is our business!

We are pre-empting our regularly scheduled programming because it's group blog day for me.

I'm over at our group blog talking about my favorite summertime activities. Come on over and tell me yours!

Don’t forget, every comment at Through Heart-Shaped Glasses is entered to win a GC to Amazon! + a copy of Nina Croft’s July release, Losing Control.

Call Me Maybe: Military Version

Couldn't help but share this. My favorite parody thus far. And it's my understanding that they only had a short amount of time to make it happen. If anyone should take a moment and have some fun, it's our military personnel serving in the 'Stan.

TBR Everywhere You Look

It's no secret that writers are also voracious readers. Our To-Be-Read piles are legend. Tell me, was I the only one so naive as to think that getting an ereader, and an app to read books on my BlackBerry, would eliminate the piles of books which multiply like rabbits all over my house?

You have got to be kidding me. Not only do I have an overflowing TBR pile, I now have a very large TBR file. The whole renovation thing is taking up most of my spare time, and working on a manuscript I'm behind on, is taking up the rest of the time, so there isn't any time left over to read. That's really okay for now. But the aforementioned problem still exists. Ten-fold!

Here's a short list of what's in my TBR's. These are the ones I can see at a glance.

Pile

Original Sin by Allison Brennan
Lover Mine by J.R. Ward
Atlantis Redeemed by Alyssa Day
Hot Westmoreland Nights by Brenda Jackson
What a Scoundrel Wants by Carrie Lofty
The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Ms. Percy Parker by Leanna Renee Hieber
Serpent Moon by C.T. Adams & Cathy Clamp

File

A Bitch Named Karma by Stephanie Haefner
The Devil's Punchbowl by Greg Iles
Jack Daniels Stories by J.A. Konrath
AfterGlow by Pamela Vee
Under The Dome by Stephen King
A Darker Trinity by Candace Gilmer
Bright Star by Greyson Reyes-Cole

Yep, my tastes are eclectic. I'm one of those weirdos who reads the back of cereal boxes too.

What's in your pile?
