A Soul to Keep

Check out Moira Keith's new release, A Soul to Keep. If you enjoy a good paranormal/urban fantasy story, you should give this one a try.

Here's the blurb:

In the realm of the Fallen, there’s a little saint and sinner in us all…

One moment can impact the future.

Love never served Jayde Cross well and owing a debt to a demon is the proof. Reaping is a lonely existence and with her thirtieth birthday approaching, she's got enough to worry about without adding romance to the mix. It's why her friendship with the man living next door works so well. They both live lives filled with secrets and ignoring their self-imposed rules isn’t an option. Too bad her heart disagrees.

The past is about to come back and haunt one of Heaven’s Fallen.

Caleb Thorne always found living among mortals difficult, until he met the intriguing woman down the hall. She demands nothing of him and is completely safe. When an enemy from his past catches up with him, Caleb soon discovers the rules of the Fallen exist for a reason and loving a mortal may prove to be the bigger danger.

In a world where their love is forbidden, Jayde and Caleb may just discover that sometimes breaking rules is the only thing that can set you free.

My Book, Finally!

Please let me shed a few tears of joy over this announcement. Most of you know this has been a long time coming. Actually, so long you probably thought I just made it up. But as of today. It's finally come to pass. My novel now has a life of it's own.

Here's the blurb:
Drive hard. Turn left. Find love…and danger.

Sarah Miller has finally become crew chief for a racing team, but her dream job comes with a hitch—dirt late model driving sensation and the man she swore she’d never see again, her old flame, Damon Blade.

Damon has too many women trying to run his life: his mother, his sister and his boss. Getting stuck with a female crew chief is the last straw...until he discovers its Sarah. And that someone else from his past is holding a grudge and determined to kill them both.

Balancing dirt track racing and staying away from a murderer has them running three wide. Headed full speed into the turn, will there be room for romance?

Many times over the last couple years I thought this day would never come. I'm sending out a sincere 'Thank You' to everyone who played a part in helping me move this project forward. It wouldn't be where it is without you.

Thanks!

Ride A Falling Star

Today we're honored to host author D'Ann Lindun. She writes contemporary western suspense. I've read this story, so I can tell you this is a captivating read.

She's doing a blog tour right now, and the dates are below so you can follow along!

Here's the blurb:

A stubborn Cowboy. A feisty Showgirl. One mobster determined to kill them both.

When showgirl Ava Demassi witnesses a mob hit, she has only one thought—get away. She runs for her life, straight into the pickup of saddle-bronc champ, Levi Callahan.

The last thing Levi expects is another rodeo devotee to jump into his truck, let alone one so desperate. But when a killer gives chase, he realizes she isn’t his run of the mill fan. Unable to save his fiancĂ© from being murdered years ago, he won’t make the same mistake twice.

Even when the odds seem stacked against them, will Ava and Levi find the one thing in life they’ve been missing, or will a hired killer cost them everything?

About the Author:

Falling in love with romance novels the summer before sixth grade, D’Ann Lindun never thought about writing one until many years later when she took a how-to class at her local college. She was hooked! She began writing and never looked back. Romance appeals to her because there's just something so satisfying about writing a book guaranteed to have a happy ending. D’Ann’s particular favorites usually feature cowboys and the women who love them. This is probably because she draws inspiration from the area where she lives, Western Colorado, her husband of twenty-nine years and their daughter. Composites of their small farm, herd of horses, five Australian shepherds, a Queensland heeler, two ducks and cats of every shape and color often show up in her stories!

D’Ann loves to hear from readers! Please contact her at

Ripe For Trouble

Greetings!

Nope, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Or the face of my blog, even though it may appear that way. I'm back with great news.

Hearts Desire Press has their first official release. It's a contemporary romance and an awesome short work by the fantastic Autumn Piper. Here's the deets:

BUY IT HERE
The biggest mistake she didn’t quite make just sauntered back into her life.

When Ivy Leeds takes a publicity job in her hometown, few things have changed…but Ridley, the bad boy of her graduating class, has cleaned up his act. Or so everyone else thinks. After hearing him and his friend practicing pickup lines, she has her doubts.

Ridley Tucker can hardly believe his eyes when Ivy, the president of the Brainiac Club, comes back to town. Some things never change—she’ll barely give him the time of day, and she still looks as good as she did that night at Prom.

Living in a small town means avoiding someone is nearly impossible, and those most worthy of avoidance turn up in such awkward places…

Content Warning: High school flame revisited plus reformed bad-boy equals combustion suitable for adults only.

This is a fun read. It's filled with spice, that wonderful small town feel, and Ms. Piper's trademark humor. If you're looking for some entertainment while you're waiting on someone, waiting in line, or just waiting for life to happen, give this one a try.

Happy Monday!

Top Ten Favorite Movie Couples

Many thanks to SoSimplyStephanie for the great fun to be had in the Sweetheart Blog Hop!

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share my very favorite family movie couples. Some are funny, some are serious, and some are just plain cheesy. It seems any time these movies play, I find myself pausing whatever I’m doing to watch just one more time. Enjoy!

1. Buttercup and Westley from The Princess Bride

“As you wish.” Awww. Best movie line ever. Who can resist ‘true love’? I think this is one of my favorite movies of all time. So many quotable lines.

2. Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean

Everyone should have a love as honorable and timeless.

3. ‘Baby’ Houseman and Johnny Castle from Dirty Dancing

First loves. Ahhh. Sigh.

4. Manny and Ellie from Ice Age: The Meltdown

I just love these two. Besides being seriously funny, they are just with it all the way around.

5. Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger from Harry Potter

You will never convince me it was a mistake that these two got together.

6. Belle and Beast from Beauty and the Beast

Um, beauty loves a beast. Need I say more?

7. Han Solo and Princess Leia from The Empire Strikes Back

“I know.” ‘Nuff said.

8. Aragorn and Arwen from The Lord of the Rings

Be still my heart! What one will sacrifice for love.

9. Jack and Rose from the Titanic

Sweet, tender, and tragic.

10. Sam and Molly from Ghost

A love that transcends death. This one made me cry.

Hope you enjoyed these. Don't forget to enter the drawing for a $100 gift card and other cool prizes! Here's the link: Sweetheart Blog Hop

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!

Submission Call - Hearts Desire Press

PERMISSION TO FORWARD GRANTED

Overall, we’re fans of great storytelling, solid steamy romances, and powerful toe curling sexual tension regardless of whether the sex is on screen or behind closed doors. We’re open to romantic suspense, contemporary, paranormal, and urban fantasy, but there are a few things that we would love to see cross our desk:

  • Everyone loves an athletic body and HDP is no exception to the rule! We crave romance that heats our blood and has us cheering like fanatics for the hero and heroine to score! Any sport will do! Football, baseball, hockey, and snowboarding are some of our favorite sports, but with summer coming up...we’re dying to see a romance that features a competitive surfer!

  • Cowboys! Of course we’ve got a thing for great contemporary western romances with heart stopping cowboys. Give us a cowboy on the verge of losing everything and a heroine that can bring him to his knees.

  • Paranormal or urban fantasy stories that feature angels, demons, witches, vampires, shifters, or Fae steeped in edge of your seat mayhem and romance that will leave us breathless.

  • Military heroes! Some of us have grown up in military families and some of us are veterans. All of us are suckers for a man in uniform story.

  • Time travel romance captivates us. Knights, Highlanders, or Egyptian Princesses showing up in unexpected places and discovering the love of their life in another time. We believe in everlasting romance.
As Hearts Desire Press does not publish young adult, new adult romance, or children's books, we will not be able to respond to submissions of such material. Please refer to the Hearts Desire Press Submission page for submission guidelines. This is an open call, there is no deadline.

We are a hybrid, royalty-paying publisher with unique offerings for authors. If you trust us with your work, and we contract it, here are some of the benefits you’ll receive as an HDP author.
  • Monthly payments/sales reporting so you can manage your writing business

  • Royalty schedule that over time favors the author, not the publisher

  • Author choice of digital only or digital and print, provided the work is at least 50k words

  • Every title receives marketing/promotional support, commercial quality cover art, editing by industry professionals, formatting with premier industry design software, and will be published in a timely fashion.
Authors these days need to have their stories in more than one venue to be successful. We get that. And we’re okay with it. Let us help you keep your career moving forward, in the direction YOU want it to go.

 Your success is our business!

Love Songs for the Road

BUY IT HERE
Happy Wednesday! Here's a book I promised to review. Don't you love it when it turns out to be a sweet read? Please continue on to learn more about this story from debut author Farrah Taylor.

Blurb:

A rock star. The nanny. A love that could rock their world.

The only thing rock star Marcus Troy loves more than making music is his kids. So finding just the right nanny to take on tour with them is important—as is proving to his ex he deserves joint custody. Falling for his employee wouldn’t just be fodder for the paparazzi: it could ruin everything.

Too bad the perfect nanny turns out to be beautiful, vibrant Ryan Evans. Ryan’s never left her small Montana town before, so she jumps at the chance to see the country. And as much as accidental fame doesn’t gel with shy Ryan, what does is her relationship with her capricious, smoking-hot, shockingly good dad of a boss. Marcus is nothing like what she expected. But when the whole world’s watching them, will life in the spotlight be too hot to handle?

My review:

A lovely debut story! Farrah Taylor has done a fabulous job of turning an old clichĂ© into a touching and entertaining read. Her characters are far deeper than meets the eye, and it won’t be long before you’re pulled in and traveling down the road with them.

Marcus is a bad boy rock star, and it isn’t long before we realize it’s what he does, not who he is. And sometimes life just sticks you between a rock and a hard place. How he works to handle some tough situations really made me cheer for him not only as a man, but as a dad.

Ryan is a down-home girl with roots and a plan for her life. When she gets thrown for a loop by her new boss, she handles it in such a frank and realistic way, and quickly comes to understand sometimes things just spin out of control. But that doesn’t deter from doing what she must, and I really loved that about this character. She was sweet and yet very strong.

Once I started reading this book, I really had a hard time putting it down! Well done, Ms. Taylor, well done.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
