Top Ten Favorite Movie Couples

Many thanks to SoSimplyStephanie for the great fun to be had in the Sweetheart Blog Hop!

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share my very favorite family movie couples. Some are funny, some are serious, and some are just plain cheesy. It seems any time these movies play, I find myself pausing whatever I’m doing to watch just one more time. Enjoy!

1. Buttercup and Westley from The Princess Bride

“As you wish.” Awww. Best movie line ever. Who can resist ‘true love’? I think this is one of my favorite movies of all time. So many quotable lines.

2. Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean

Everyone should have a love as honorable and timeless.

3. ‘Baby’ Houseman and Johnny Castle from Dirty Dancing

First loves. Ahhh. Sigh.

4. Manny and Ellie from Ice Age: The Meltdown

I just love these two. Besides being seriously funny, they are just with it all the way around.

5. Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger from Harry Potter

You will never convince me it was a mistake that these two got together.

6. Belle and Beast from Beauty and the Beast

Um, beauty loves a beast. Need I say more?

7. Han Solo and Princess Leia from The Empire Strikes Back

“I know.” ‘Nuff said.

8. Aragorn and Arwen from The Lord of the Rings

Be still my heart! What one will sacrifice for love.

9. Jack and Rose from the Titanic

Sweet, tender, and tragic.

10. Sam and Molly from Ghost

A love that transcends death. This one made me cry.

Hope you enjoyed these. Don't forget to enter the drawing for a $100 gift card and other cool prizes! Here's the link: Sweetheart Blog Hop

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!

Submission Call - Hearts Desire Press

PERMISSION TO FORWARD GRANTED

Overall, we’re fans of great storytelling, solid steamy romances, and powerful toe curling sexual tension regardless of whether the sex is on screen or behind closed doors. We’re open to romantic suspense, contemporary, paranormal, and urban fantasy, but there are a few things that we would love to see cross our desk:

  • Everyone loves an athletic body and HDP is no exception to the rule! We crave romance that heats our blood and has us cheering like fanatics for the hero and heroine to score! Any sport will do! Football, baseball, hockey, and snowboarding are some of our favorite sports, but with summer coming up...we’re dying to see a romance that features a competitive surfer!

  • Cowboys! Of course we’ve got a thing for great contemporary western romances with heart stopping cowboys. Give us a cowboy on the verge of losing everything and a heroine that can bring him to his knees.

  • Paranormal or urban fantasy stories that feature angels, demons, witches, vampires, shifters, or Fae steeped in edge of your seat mayhem and romance that will leave us breathless.

  • Military heroes! Some of us have grown up in military families and some of us are veterans. All of us are suckers for a man in uniform story.

  • Time travel romance captivates us. Knights, Highlanders, or Egyptian Princesses showing up in unexpected places and discovering the love of their life in another time. We believe in everlasting romance.
As Hearts Desire Press does not publish young adult, new adult romance, or children's books, we will not be able to respond to submissions of such material. Please refer to the Hearts Desire Press Submission page for submission guidelines. This is an open call, there is no deadline.

We are a hybrid, royalty-paying publisher with unique offerings for authors. If you trust us with your work, and we contract it, here are some of the benefits you’ll receive as an HDP author.
  • Monthly payments/sales reporting so you can manage your writing business

  • Royalty schedule that over time favors the author, not the publisher

  • Author choice of digital only or digital and print, provided the work is at least 50k words

  • Every title receives marketing/promotional support, commercial quality cover art, editing by industry professionals, formatting with premier industry design software, and will be published in a timely fashion.
Authors these days need to have their stories in more than one venue to be successful. We get that. And we’re okay with it. Let us help you keep your career moving forward, in the direction YOU want it to go.

 Your success is our business!

Love Songs for the Road

BUY IT HERE
Happy Wednesday! Here's a book I promised to review. Don't you love it when it turns out to be a sweet read? Please continue on to learn more about this story from debut author Farrah Taylor.

Blurb:

A rock star. The nanny. A love that could rock their world.

The only thing rock star Marcus Troy loves more than making music is his kids. So finding just the right nanny to take on tour with them is important—as is proving to his ex he deserves joint custody. Falling for his employee wouldn’t just be fodder for the paparazzi: it could ruin everything.

Too bad the perfect nanny turns out to be beautiful, vibrant Ryan Evans. Ryan’s never left her small Montana town before, so she jumps at the chance to see the country. And as much as accidental fame doesn’t gel with shy Ryan, what does is her relationship with her capricious, smoking-hot, shockingly good dad of a boss. Marcus is nothing like what she expected. But when the whole world’s watching them, will life in the spotlight be too hot to handle?

My review:

A lovely debut story! Farrah Taylor has done a fabulous job of turning an old cliché into a touching and entertaining read. Her characters are far deeper than meets the eye, and it won’t be long before you’re pulled in and traveling down the road with them.

Marcus is a bad boy rock star, and it isn’t long before we realize it’s what he does, not who he is. And sometimes life just sticks you between a rock and a hard place. How he works to handle some tough situations really made me cheer for him not only as a man, but as a dad.

Ryan is a down-home girl with roots and a plan for her life. When she gets thrown for a loop by her new boss, she handles it in such a frank and realistic way, and quickly comes to understand sometimes things just spin out of control. But that doesn’t deter from doing what she must, and I really loved that about this character. She was sweet and yet very strong.

Once I started reading this book, I really had a hard time putting it down! Well done, Ms. Taylor, well done.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Hearts Desire Press

Just in case any of you are wondering where I’ve gone, or what I’m up to these days I can finally tell you! As my dream of working in the world of publishing continues to evolve, to that end I’m opening my own publishing company.

You can find it here:

Hearts Desire Press

Yes, we’re the new kid in this crazy ever-changing publishing world. And we’re a bit different. I wouldn’t go so far as to call us a hybrid, but I see our place in an author’s endeavor to build a writing career as one smoothly functioning part of a whole. Not the be-all-end-all goal of career building.

These days the smart, career focused author will have their eggs in many baskets, traditional publication, small press, and indie. I applaud that, and believe it’s entirely appropriate.

If as an author you find you like what we do at HDP, you’re welcome to publish with us for as little or as long as you like, but we understand that these days it takes more than one publishing experience to build a solid writing career.

Those of you who know me, know I’ve been self-employed for a long time. HDP isn’t my first trip around the business block. I know how hard you must to work to build success. And I can’t think of anything I’d rather do than work with those in the publishing world. So if you’re an editor, an author, or a marketing professional I’d appreciate it if you’d consider working with Hearts Desire Press in the future.
