Life with Lucy #3

Greetings, everyone. Fridays are wonderful things. Today Lucy took her last antibiotic pill so that struggle is over. She’s feeling much better, hardly a cough in sight. Or hearing. Why don’t I just let her tell you herself.

Hello, it’s me, Lucy. Its ve-r-r-ry cold here. Is it cold where you are? I don’t have much hair to cover me, and I shiver when I go outside. So Mom makes me wear a coat. It keeps me very warm. My daddy says it’s a girlie coat. I tried to tell him it’s a doggie coat, but he says since I’m a girlie doggie, its okay.

Mom laughs when Dad takes me outside because he’s a very big guy, walking a little girl dog with a pink leash and a pink coat. What, I ask you is wrong with pink? He says he must love me very much. Of course he does. What’s not to love? I’m a dog. Dogs are lovable.

This morning we had a wonderful surprise when we went outside. Something Mom called freezing rain. It made everything shiny and beautiful. It felt cold on my tongue. I wanted to sniff and lick everything. The rocks, the dirt, even the asphalt was icy cold and I thought I could take a bite. Mom told me, no. The grass was crunchy under my feet. The leaves were like little ice cubes. Mom wouldn’t let me eat those either.

Mom didn’t seem very happy about the beautiful rain. She slipped because she doesn’t have claws like me. She didn’t fall though. I think that’s good. Mom says I shouldn’t hope you get freezing rain too, because it’s dangerous. I’m not sure about that. I think it’s lovely and I want to stay outside in my warm coat and watch it fall.

Probably like a lot of you, for many years I've seen freezing rain as nothing but evil. It's slippery, and unsafe. It gets in the way of progress. Taking kids to school, getting to work, or walking the dog. But today, just for moment, watching Lucy react to it, I saw something very different. She was delighted. And it made me see it differently, if only for a moment. The moment just before I slipped, but still. I'm thankful, because she made me pause, and take another look. Right now, Lucy is barking at me to take her outside again. Duty calls. Be safe and have a happy weekend, everyone!

Fall Color

Greetings! Nope I haven’t run screaming into highway traffic just yet. I’m made of sterner stuff than that. Things have been crazy busy around the Fox household lately. The universe is testing my limits. But you’ve been on my mind though.

Before the first day of winter arrives in December, I wanted to share one of the reasons that I love living in this area. Every fall, the colors are just spectacular. The first two photos were taken standing on my deck looking into the back yard. The third is one of the local golf courses, and the forth is just a highway shot. If you’d like to see more, they’re on my Facebook page.

Today, I’m jumping into the vortex that is NaNo (National Novel Writing Month) with high hopes for success this year. Wish me luck!

Format Change

Looking for your next favorite author? This just might be the place you’ll find them. Starting this Friday, a new format is coming to Fox Tales. And it’s not the ‘sporadic or no posts at all’ version you’ve grown used to.

Monday Mii – Yes, I have a little red-headed mii. At this time she lives in Chicago on my niece’s Wii, but I love her just the same. This’ll be all that behind the scenes stuff people always wonder about writers. In other words, just the boring details about my personal life. I promise not to post what I had for lunch. Unless it involves me cooking it, which sometimes is quite humorous.

Writer Wednesday – All the writer-ly stuff you can imagine. I’ll continue posts from Writer Biz, Novel Work, and throw in any other writing related goodies that pique my interest.

Fan Friday – Here’s the biggie. Although I write romance, I’m an eclectic reader. I love lots of different genres. So Fridays will be devoted to other author’s guest posts. That way you don’t have to read about me, ad nauseam. And you can add more books to your TBR list.

Stay tuned!

Hot Authors to Help You Stay Cool

Haven’t posted all week and I apologize for that. It’s just that I feel like I should post something charming, witty, brilliant, or perhaps an expose on how to write the next bestseller. And nada. I got nothing.

Working in the heat makes my brain empty. So, in lieu of my own banter, if you’re looking for a summer read to take your mind off of this infernal weather we’re having, check out some of my favorite authors. I highly recommend them because by turns they’re charming, witty, and brilliant.

She never imagined love could happen twice—until her husband returned from the dead.

Cassidy thinks she’s getting on with her life just fine after her husband’s fall to cancer. Life is quiet, which is just the way she likes it, half a continent away from her overbearing Irish family.

Niall doesn’t want to scare the fragile Irish rose, but her husband, supposedly two years in the grave, has been caught on security tapes at a secret government laboratory.

Together, they unearth evidence of industrial espionage and identity theft...and frightening connections to the Irish Mob that will put more than just their own lives at risk.

Sex, bullets, more sex, intimate body piercings and a few red roses. What more could a girl want?
